The Suitcase

I have been working on a series of conceptually connected projects that focus on infiltrating hidden spaces, belongings, and thoughts as a way for me to connect with others and to see things from a different point of view. Through this, I explore the subtleties of our differences without relying on the need for a face or a name.

As part of my practice, I visit specialist auction houses, buying unclaimed airline baggage with the contents still inside. Some cases have neatly folded, clean clothes and others are jammed in and crushed. I only bid on the suitcases that have ribbons on the handles because, at one time, they did not want to be lost.
